Audit

A rolling program of auditing clinical activity and training is in operation.

The clinical activity of the unit will be monitored using a special database designed specifically for the purpose and, clinical information collected from the practice computer system database. It is proposed that this information will be used for the audit of clinic activity as part of Clinical Governance. The information collated will include:-

  • Referral practice profiles to enable us to provide a responsive high quality service.
  • A summary of the area by postcode giving us geographic information about how the service is used.
  • Monthly totals of patients referred for treatment.
  • Monthly breakdown of treatment provided under R.A, conscious sedation and referral GDA.
  • The proportion of adults and children treated.
  • The proportion of oral surgery and routine dental services provided.
  • Information on treatments provided by different anaesthetists and dentists.
  • Information on the duration of procedures and recovery times.

An audit of practice policy will also be performed on a monthly basis. This will include information on:-

  • Assessments
  • Stock/drugs
  • Equipment checks and maintenance
  • CPR and advanced life support training
  • Medical emergency drills
  • Incident/accident reports
  • Fire Drills
  • Customer satisfaction
